Arrogance comes with abundance! Where to stop?

Interestingly two things I saw today, gave me evidences enough to believe that abundance is one of the key elements that brings in arrogance.  First one I saw was Kung Fu Panda 3, wherein Kai – the antagonist, keeps on gathering “chi”- which is the energy you absorb from the master you defeat in a battle. He keeps on getting it, and more powerful he gets, he was reminded in between by Master Oogway, that “the more you take, the less you have”. Finally, he is bloated with Panda’s chi, which leads him to burst due to uncontrollable energy. Drawing a parallel here, it means that you should give more importance to the “value” of things and not to the “quantity” of things. If you have 10 rupees, 1 rupee will be of much more value than it is when you have 100 rupees. But how do you when to stop taking more? Because arrogance always comes with abundance. You will value less, when the more you take. This applies for everything I guess, the more of tasty food you have, the less likely you are gonna have it again, or more you store things you like, lesser are the chance you will give time to enjoy each of your collections.

That leads to the second thing that I saw today, a video wherein in Kenya, a retired military officer, who barely earns anything for his family, creates a greenhouse for flower farming. Over the period it grows to the second largest cut-flower exporter in the world, but he keeps giving back a lot to his employees, which he calls his fellow Kenyans, who all had faced great amount of adversity inn their lives. This man obviously didn’t stop growing, but ensured that people around him grew as well, and in the same rate of growth as his.

So I think, it’s not that you should stop, it’s that you should enable and give back what you take in order to make more use of it and not reduce its value.

Mail to Vodafone (complaint made on Feb 5, 2015)

With great regret I have to reach out to you, as through normal defined customer resolution process, my problem was not getting addressed and resolved.

Short summary:
I have been wrongly given 2G plan instead of 3G, because of vodafone's website issue, I need 3G asap, if you dont want to go through the pain of reading the entire email (which has memoirs of my frustration), please change the wrongly given 2G by tomorrow first half, else I will pay for 3G and ask for reversal) If this message is not enough for solving my problem, please be happy to help by reading the below mail.

Background of my problem
Mobile: XXXXXXXXX

1) I am a ardent user of Vodafone 3G, you can check my usage history, never has there been a single minute when I was not on 3G, my business is dependent on 3G and I primarily use this number for 3G purpose only.
2) As normally I do my recharge online, I went to google, went to quick 3G prepaid recharge link of vodafone, where the plan for 1GB of 28 days validity was available at 249, i clicked buy now, pay through debit card and complete the quick (quickest) recharge.
3) Suddenly to my shock, I got a SMS "2G activated", and then in minutes my 3G was disabled.
4) I called up your call centre (198- complaints number) which is of no use (God knows why the centre is built if they cant resolve customer complaints, if I have to finally mail for my problem to get resolved)
5) After 3 levels of escalation and 50 minutes of head-banging with your call centre guys (In that span the glucose level has gone down substantially), they finally accepted that they understand my problem, that I was not given an option to select the circle and the circle was by default printed in small letters in one of the corners (which was not a Mumbai circle) (Now dont' tell me that you expect customers going to quick recharge(quickest!) to read each and every line of the page. And hence it was Vodafone's website issue which by mistake selected a wrong circle and instead of doing a 3G recharge(which I had opted for) it did a equivalent recharge of 2G (just because in Mumbai it costs 249, and I paid 249)
6) So I asked them either to debit Rs2 extra and give me 3G (because thats what I use since years!! I am not at all used to 2G and never in my dreams I would opt for 2G, unless I am out of pocket, which I hope not to be)
7) Rehan the floor manager then told that he is the final line of call centre beyond which there is no manager, so if he cant solve nobody can, however he told he will try to solve the problem in 48 hours (mind you, he accepted it is vodafone's fault) and still it will take 48 hours when I cant live on 2G for 4 hours during office
So I told him to convert it to 3G(which he couldnt) or I pay right now again, you reverse the amount in 2days(which also he cant) and then Vodafone says ironically "Happy to help"... i dont know who, if not a regular revenue generating 3G customer who has been with Vodafone since almost 9 years???
8) Sadly (even more sad than "Saddest movies which will make you cry? http://www.imdb.com/list/ls000558240/), the phone which was going on for 50 minutes, in which Rehan had finally agreed to transfer the call to his manager (whose existence I am not sure of), got DISCONNECTED
9)
10) Yeah that above blank point is deliberate, if you dont understand what I mean, I still called the 198 (coz by then I was out of wits!), after explaining three guys that they cant solve my problem I still couldnt reach rehan, however sushil who is of same cadre told that I would be happy to solve your problem, but his hands are tied as he has not authorisation to solve the problem, God knows again why you have call centres who either direct to Vodafone store(which by the way is also of no use due to my past experience), or ask to email which takes its own leisurely time)

God save customer service, where art thou?? why give pain to customer and why not just delight him with service at the first level, why he has to go through so much pain and still might not achieve what he deserves. I sometimes wonder why Mary Kom is your global brand ambassador, I think you haven't yet learned from her!

This is not first time I have been given such bad experience, its done time and again, I expect quick resolution and no less! Please dont let this be last nail in the coffin of this dying customer and let it be a magical pill saying "I do care about my customer and I can go to any length helping the customer who has no fault" Please show you are happy to help!.

Top DIORDNA (Mobile OS's) Apps which everyone should have on their phones

Presenting you a list of Android apps which you must have or at least try using it, these have been filtered after using more than 1500 apps in my Android lifetime:

Father of apps (Asli Baap of all apps)
1) Drippler - Provides the updates on latest happening in Android/iOS, most of the apps mentioned below have been found by me due to Drippler! So its the Godfather!!!
Must have app!!!

Automation
1) Automateit - What if you reach home, and your phone's wifi is automatically turned ON, and once wifi is connected it automatically starts Skype, and what if it switches the phone to silent once you reach office. What if you put your headphones, and the phone automatically opens your favourite music app. Yes a lot of these and many more is possible. Let me know if you need a full version.
Good to have app!!!

2) Tasker (paid version) - All the same as above with integration facilities with other apps by way of coding, I haven't tried it much (as I dont pay for apps ;) ), but heard its good. Let me know if you give it a shot!
Try out app!!!

3) Utter! - A lot of tasks which you would usually do by touching your phone's screen and looking at it, all those things can be done simply by your voice, Google voice has its limitations & Utter completes it. Its still improvising, but believe me its still very good, if you are into voice based tasks.
Fun to have app!!!

Productivity
1) Callheads - Ever happened with you, that you are doing some important task on an app, or on a verge of making a highscore and beat your friend, and suddenly a call comes (sometimes its the same friend whose score you were trying to beat), and all your efforts since last 20 minutes gone to drain. Well, callheads helps you avoid such situation, it lets you finish your task and then you can pick the call, till that time there will be a small callhead in the centre of the screen, which will not hamper your current app activity in any way.
Must have app!!!

2) Flynx browser - Imagine, You are seeing a lot of tweets, and many of them have a link to read more, but you want to go on further to see what more tweets are available, but you cant, as you have clicked on a browser link, which is now loading slowly, and you are staring at a blank screen for few seconds. Then you read the entire document, and then go back to twitter and you again click another link and do the waiting again. Its too much strain!!, why cant I read all the twitter messages, and meanwhile all the links which I select open in the background, and I read only when they are completely loaded, saving time and energy. Flynx allows you to do that!!.
Must have app!!!

3) Pocket - Going into a meeting?, but hey a long article which you are reading, what about that? Well save it to Pocket and read it later at your own leisure!!!
Must have app!!!

4) Multitasking - We say our phones have multitasking capabilities,  but that means we can work on two apps but not at the same time, well Multitasking allows you to do real multitasking. Which means I can view photos in gallery while I am clicking pictures!!! both at same time on same screen. Oh! wait! I can also add a browser to the screen, and much more (hope your phone's screen size is huge to accommodate five six or more windows).
Good to have app!!!

5) Pushbullet - While at home, I tend to use laptop or desktop more than the phone and keep my phone on direct charging, for those who do the same, its really annoying when every-time a notification rings (Thanks to Whatsapp and other apps! :/ ), we have to again and again get up to check the phone. Well by using pushbullet, now I can see all the notification directly on my laptop, no need to get up again and again to check the phone. What's more some of the things I can directly reply from laptop (Whatsapp still not there though, but developers are persistently requesting whatsapp to allow access). In all, I dont have to switch on my screen on, and type in the password, just to see a silly notification, I can discard that right away when I am working on my laptop.
Must have app!!!

6) Battery doctor - It says it increases your battery life, I have serious doubts, but still its a relief factor of using an app which is used by millions and liked too. So following the crowd here! :)
Don't really know whether to have this app or not!!!

Navigation & Traffic update
1) Waze - A brilliant app, which I would like to promote, and want Mumbaikars to use, its a crowdsourced traffic information app. When we are in traffic and listening to radio or some music in car, do the world or at least Mumbai a favour by posting that dont come through this road, its pretty busy. Earn good karma, and keep GPS on if you wish, waze will automatically determine your speed of the car and keep updating it on the map. You can use the app then to view what others have to say.
Please have this app and use it!!!

2) Traffline - A recently downloaded app, heard its good
Try out app!!!

Learning apps
1) Painless GRE - Its a pain to remember new words and then keep revisiting to ensure retention, well Painless GRE takes that pain for you and what you have to do is just give one test a day (you can customise the way you want to do it), but a very good app to learn new words.
Good to have app!!!

2) Coursera - I have used this app on laptop, havent used it on mobile, but heard its good. Give it a try and let us know whether its good.

3) Quora - One of the best apps to find answer to all the questions that can come to your mind, if its not there, post it on quora, you will definitely get an answer
Must have app!!!

4) Reddit - I used this app long long time ago, have lost touch, but what I remember is, it is a good app (while writing this article I have decided to use this app again)

5) Drug index - Well Both drug index and drug dictionary apps can be used whenever you are purchasing a new medicine, lookup for its contents and then search in both these drug apps. As a result you will know a lot more about the drug you consume. Such info is definitely helpful.
6) Drug dictionary
Good to have if interested, apps!!!

Document
tools
1) Camscanner - Again everyone has this app and also uses it.
2) Quickoffice - I use this app to view documents, its simple and nice. I have used others also, but somehow intuitively I have like this the most. Dont have a logical comparison for this category.

Music Apps
1) 8 tracks - A music app which helps you find relevant music based on the genres, artist and more. Have found a lot of new music from this app which I havent heard before

2) Soundcloud - Heard its good, havent used it extensively to provide a review
3) Shazam - Well this one most of us knows, but if you dont' then imagine a situation, you are at a party and suddenly very nice song or music starts being played, you dont what the song is, you open shazam and press the center button, and voila! it finds the music for you.

Cloud storage
1) Google Drive
2) Dropbox
3) Box

Connectivity
1) Team viewer - Helps you take complete control your laptop from your phone!
2) TV quicksupport

Video player
1) MX Player - A nice video player, but nothing much special

Fun to use apps
1) Cymera - A portrait face photo editing app, lot of fun based editing you can do on anybody's face,

2) Gif Mob - What do you do when you go to a party or event, you click photos, or videos, well its time! to do something new, try gifmob and make gif files (its really funny when you finally see the outcome) its something one must try,

Hope your android phones will be see some new apps after this, which will make this article a success! and please do share some of the interesting apps that you have come across and your views on the apps I suggested.

Why can’t we just fill in the ozone hole with man-made ozone?

The sheer scale of the notorious hole – or, more accurately, depleted region – in the Earth’s ozone layer over the Antarctic beggars belief. At its peak each September, it spans an area bigger than the continental United States, and tens of millions of tonnes of ozone would be needed to fill it up again. Simply creating that amount of ozone, let alone getting it where it’s needed, would be astronomically expensive

Top 31 Motivation Hacks

wow1.jpg
Here are 31 of the most powerful motivation hacks you can use to increase productivity and attain greater fulfillment in life.  I have picked some of the most useful tips from quality blogs and classic texts (so some may sound familiar) and added a few We The Change nuggets.  Enjoy!
31. Make it FUN
You will never be motivated to do something that makes you feel sad, scared, depressed or bored.  So find a way to make the project exciting.  If you can not, consider a way to achieve the top-line objective in a different manner, one that does not entail such drudgery!
30. Make a habit of visualization
One of the most powerful motivation tools which most people simply do not employ.  Set aside 5 minutes each day and practice seeing yourself achieve your loftiest goals.  This will be hard at first, but will eventually the mind will de-clutter and lead you down a much clearer path.
29. Get a buddy with similar goals
Can you do it alone?  Absolutely!  But, goals are easier to accomplish when you work in tandem with a partner who has synergistic objectives.  And they are out there; all you have to do is look and ask!
28. Cultivate patience
No matter how motivated you are, things do not always happen immediately or when you want them.  Therefore it is absolutely imperative to develop great patience, and allow your goals to manifest naturally.
27. Get a life coach or business mentor
Life coaching and business counseling is taking off, and for good reason!  These individuals are trained to listen and help you take productive action.  From my experience, attaining a good life coach is motivation in its purest form. (AND, if you are looking for a good one you can click here)!
26. Create smaller, manageable tasks
It is so easy to get lost in a sea of inactivity when we are constantly thinking about the big, massive goals we set for ourselves.  It is certainly OK to create long-term goals, but make sure you constantly bring your attention to the smaller, actionable tasks that move you forward.
25. Get into nature, frequently
Spend 10 minutes looking up at the stars on a very clear night.  OR, take a ½ hour and lie by the beach listening to the waves roll in.  OR, go for a walk in the woods.  When doing this, be there fully and soak in the natural beauty that is all around you.  Is there anything more motivating than this?
24. Take a class
People lose motivation because they are bored.  Taking a class in something that interests you is a wonderful way to “un-bore” yourself.
1061897539_e9db484f96.jpg23. Be conscious of your urges to STOP, expect them
No matter how motivated you are, there will be moments when you will lose it.  That’s OK—in fact, the most productive people expect these down cycles and learn from them.  When this happens to you, be patient and figure out what activity can snap you out of it.
22. Ask for the honest advice of people you respect!
Another nugget of wisdom that most people forget about—TAKE ADVICE, especially from people that you respect.  You will come away with a different perspective of your mission, and feel freshly motivated!
21. When you take time off, do not even think about it
You need to take breaks in order to manifest fresh ideas.  When resting, REALLY rest and train your brain not to think about your larger ambitions.  This will also be hard to do at first, but can benefit you greatly in the long-term.
20. Make a big public commitment. Be fully committed
I got this one from my friend Leo at Zen Habits, and I love it!  He says “this will do the trick every time. Create a blog and announce to the world that you are going to achieve a certain goal by a certain date. Commit yourself to the hilt”.  Thanks Leo, you have certainly motivated me :)
19. Repeat positive affirmations
Create 2 or 3 sentences that state your objectives and repeat them out loud sometime during the day (preferably in the morning).  Introducing your intentions to the subconscious mind is a powerful motivation tool.  Click here for more on affirmations.
18. Limit your intake of “world” and “local” news
Why?  Because for the most part it is totally DE-motivating.  AND, you may be surprised to hear this, but you do not need to know everything that’s going on in the world, all the time.  Take a break from it.
17. Stretch first thing in the morning
Stretching for 5 minutes upon waking can shift your outlook in an often surprising way (brings your attention inward), so get the blood flowing in the a.m.!
16. Surround yourself with positive quotes
Tape some positive quotations on your computer monitor, put them in your pocket, slap them on your steering wheel etc…This is a simple method for keeping the positive and motivating vibes going.
15. Put yourself in a situation to get “small wins”
Attaining a consistent sense of accomplishment is crucial to staying motivated.  Checking things off a to-do list (and knowing you don’t have to go back to it) should make you feel good, and motivate you to be more productive.
umbrellas.jpg14. Reward yourself
When achieving these small wins…reward yourself with something meaningful.  It is not really a “win” until you feel good about it, right?  This is something most people simply do not do, and they go from one task to the next in a perfunctory fashion with little enjoyment.  Treat yourself, you’re worth it!
13. Have a clear, clutter-free work environment
Clutter in your physical space translates to clutter in the mind.  Have a clean, fresh space to work in and your thoughts and actions will follow-suit.
12. Do the most important task, or tasks, right away!
Right after a good stretch, take care of two of the most vital tasks you have for the day.  This will give you a nice sense of accomplishment and motivate you for the remaining work hours.
11. Pick The Brain of someone who has achieved a similar goal
No matter how outlandish your goals are, chances are someone has achieved something similar.  Better yet—chances are this person was less qualified, less intelligent, and in all had less “going” for him/her.  Find out how they did it…
10. Keep a journal of your progress
You don’t need to do this every day (you can if you want, but sometimes this gets too time consuming…and it’s not good to journal just because you feel pressured to do so).  Alternatively, write whenever you feel like it, and feel proud of your progress.
9. Get stuck in it!
This is another way to say, “just do it”.  You’ll often find that whatever you’ve been putting off isn’t as bad as you thought, and doesn’t take that long.
8. Write Your own Eulogy
A very powerful (and not much talked about) exercise for motivation.  Although morbidly sounding, this practice can be a transcending experience.  For more info, read What Is Your Legacy (and you can see what I want said about me when its all over)!
7. Set AWESOME goals for yourself
I say “awesome” because writing out goals should be a fun and inspiring experience!  If goal writing stresses you out, then you should not be doing it (or change your mindset, as it should excite you to envision the life you want to lead).  You can see my goals for 2008 here!
6. Try using different types of music to fire you up
Music has the unique ability to generate feelings within us that mere words sometimes can not do.  Find music that is right for your mood, and use it smartly!  Here are 5 Great Albums to listen to in the morning.
positive-thinking.jpg5. Believe that you can do whatever you are planning to do
You don’t have to know HOW you are going to achieve your goals, but you do need to have an unyielding inner belief that you will accomplish them.  Just KNOW that you are going to do it, and you will find yourself constantly stimulated.
4. Set a short-term EXERCISE goal, and achieve it!
Tell yourself you will successfully jog 2 miles within the next two weeks without a rest.  OR, do ten straight push-ups.  OR, complete a full Bikram Yoga class.  The point is to set a realistic goal for your body, achieve it, and set the stage for the mind!
3. Be OK not knowing everything
How is this motivating?  Because once you realize that you will NOT always know exactly what to do each and every moment, you can relax and allow the best solution surface naturally (which it has a tendency to do in a relaxed state).
2. Watch thoughts like “I can’t do that” or “I can never pull that off”
I say watch them because there really is no getting rid of them, as they exist for every human.  But you can become an observer to your negativity, and start realizing that it is a mind-created tool that only limits you.  Once you get a different perspective, you can by-pass the negative thoughts and allow pure action to transpire.
1. Every day, commit to doing at least two things proactively
It is critical to be “moving forward” every day.  No matter what happens, make sure you are doing at least two daily actions that put you closer to your ultimate goals.  Most of us spend 99.9% of our time in reactionary mode, and this is ultra-un-motivating.
There you have it, a pretty complete list.  As always, would love to hear your thoughts and comments.  Thanks…
